Young People's Meetings
Young people's meetings take place regularly in the project. This is an opportunity for young people to suggest what activities they would like to do and also for workers to make young people aware of training courses and events. The meetings are chaired and organised by young people with the help of staff and take place within the Drop-in.
To give a flavour of what is discussed at the meetings, here is an account of a meeting held last year.
This is a brief account of a meeting held 12/03/01:
Present:
Sean, Tracey, Jay, Theresa, David, Chauntelle, Lorna, Angela, Jenny, Matt.
I.C.T
The project will hopefully get the final go ahead for fitting out computers
in the project which will enable everyone to develop their computer skills
and have internet access. As soon as we get the green light we'll be involving
everyone in planning and preparing for the changes to the project.
Courses
Volunteers are wanted for motivate (need to be motivated and not scared of
hard work). It's a chance to get to go away and do loads of activities, if
anyone is interested see the sheet on the wall. Fairbridge are starting a
new course on Monday, if anyone is interested they can give Dave a ring. Webb
Fm are starting for young people to learn about radio skills.
Chess Tournament
Sean agreed to organise a Chess Tournament in the project. Anyone interested
needs to put their name on the list. There will be a prize!
A.G.M
For the A.G.M it was agreed to do a mural and show the video that was produced by the video course members.
High Sheriffs Award
The project got a cheque for £1000 from the High Sheriff which Angela, Sean
and Chauntelle picked up. This can be spent on activities so people have to
have loads of ideas of what to do. Plan to do an activity every other Thursday.
